    Description

You are bidding on an exceptionally rare, author-signed copy of
The Medicine Man of the American Indian and His Cultural Background
by William Thomas Corlett, MD. It was published in 1935 by Charles C. Thomas, and this is a First Edition copy. The book measures 6.5 x 9.5-inches in size, and contains 369 pages.
This book is an extensive investigation into the medical treatments of the American Indians, and one of the earliest books to do so. As to be anticipated, much credit is given to their skill in using herbal remedies and much disdain for the "hocus-pocus" of their shamans. Now we understand that it was not all hocus-pocus, and shamans did indeed perform "mystery" cures (see my
    Spirit Talkers
    book
    listing).
Shipping and handlings is free. Foreign shipments at extra S&H.
