The Navajo reservation is the largest in the country. It takes in a great part of northern Arizona and New Mexico, and is as large as Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts together. Much of it is desert, so The People build their hogans as near water as possible.

Eugene H. Bischoff is an artist who is well known for his oil and water color paintings of the American Indian. Kay Bischoff, formerly in the New York City school system, has written the text. The booklet is published by Eukabi Publishers in Albuquerque, N.M., copyright 1948 and 1951. The front page has a signature (Lida Jane Lauer) in the upper right corner. It is pre-owned but in very good condition for a 64 year old book. The pages are somewhat yellowed due to age, but it adds to the charm.
