HANOI, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) — Vietnam exported over 885 million U.S. dollars worth of fishery products in July, the highest revenue since early this year, Vietnam News Agency cited the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers on Monday.
The total export revenue in the first seven months hit 5.28 billion dollars, up 7 percent year on year, said the report.
In July alone, shrimp export reported an 11 percent increase, the highest growth since early this year, while tra fish export rose by 23 percent.
Meanwhile, tuna export has slowed down with a 9 percent year-on-year increase.
Fishery products’ shipment to four major buyers recovered in July, with that to China increasing 30 percent, the U.S. 14 percent, the EU 14 percent and Japan 11 percent, said the association.
China is the top destination for Vietnam’s fresh fishery products for restaurants, hotels, and tourism.
Products such as lobster, crab, clams, snails from Vietnam are forecast to continue to attract Chinese customers in the near future, according to the association. ■
